I need a sewing machine!!

I've wanted a sewing machine for a while now but don't want to spend the money for a new one. I may be able to find one at a thrift store but of course everytime I'm there I forget to look for one. I have alot of things I want to do with it but most of them can wait until I find one. I ran across this post today and thought THIS IS WHY I NEED A SEWING MACHINE!! It's a business card holder and since I have lia sophia business cards this would be great to throw in my purse and keep them all together. Ribbon Holder

I found this tutorial on another blog...sorry I forgot where. Please let me know if this is yours!!

I grabbed a slotted basket from Dollar General and some dowels from work (when I worked). I just placed my ribbon spools on the dowels and slid them through the slots in the basket then put the ribbon ends through the holes to be accessible. Total cost=$3.50

Bows, Bows, & More Bows!

I made more bows for Lily yesterday!!! I have so much ribbon leftover from our wedding, she's gonna have a ton in these colors. :)

A few more DIYs

I have been wanting to spice up some candles we have in our room for a little while so I took some ribbon and hot glued it to these pillars and wala...cute candles! I like the cream ones better than the orange one but I wanted all 3 to match so I went ahead and did it to.

Lily also needed a new bow holder because the one she has now is completely full. I had gotten this scrap door from work and just Mod Podged some scrapbook paper to it and put on a "Our Little Angel" rub-on on it. I hot glued some ribbon to the bottom and now we have a big bow holder! Very easy and didn't cost me much at all.

Subway Art

I've notice Subway Art is becoming very popular on blogs lately. I've actually saved quite a few to print out. I had gotten some rub ons at Hobby Lobby recently thinking I would eventually use them to make Lily a scrapbook. Yesterday I was looking at them and decided I would make Subway Art out of them. I took a blank piece of paper and first laid out the words how I wanted them then went to rubbing. I used a hole punch at the bottom and tied a ribbon thru. I don't think it turned out too bad. I'm gonna end up putting it in a frame and hanging it in Lily's room.

This is a very easy way to make Subway Art!!

My 1st attempt at bows

I've been wanting to try and make Lily some bows for a while now but never got the chance. I also was afraid I would totally mess them up. Yesterday I got brave and decided just to go for it and try a couple. I still have to put something in the center of the flower one but they didn't turn out too bad for my first try. You can't see the black one very well but it's made of felt and looks like the one on the left.

Why do I like where I work???

Because I get all of the free wood I want!! I work at a Cabinet factory (in the office) and we have scrap wood every day. I recently took up an interest in crafts and thought why waste money on wood when I can get it at work for free. I have a plan for everything, I'm just gonna have to find time to make it all. In the mean time Brandon isn't too thrilled that it's all just sitting around taking up space. ;)

Covered Bridge Festival

Yesterday was our annual trip to the Covered Bridge Festival in Mansfield, IN. We left at 6:00 in the morning, made a quick stop for breakfast at McDonalds and arrived at the festival around 8:30 their time (which is an hour ahead of IL time). We ended up about walking the entire thing but I really feel like I didn't get to see everything I wanted to. We left at noon and headed to Terre Haute to eat lunch/supper at Applebees. Overall it was a good day and I got some nice stuff for the house plus 2 real cute purses but I wish I could've had more time over there....there's always next year!!

I think I'm just bad luck.

Brandon has been hunting the past couple weekends so I've felt like I haven't been able to spend a whole lot of time with him. He gets up at 5:00 Sat. & Sunday mornings then comes home around noon and usually ends up falling asleep in his chair then goes back out at 3:00 until about 6. This weekend I decided I'd just go with him Saturday evening. We got up in the stand around 3:30 and waited for the deer to come........it came to be 5:00, and still no deer. I was getting cold and bored and I think he was too but for some reason he wanted to stay out. We still never saw a single one and finally he decided we could get down around 6:30. He told me that it usually wasn't like that, that he always sees them come out around 5:00. I went hunting with him twice last year and we didn't see any those times either. So I think I'm just a bad luck charm. :(

Pulling Debut

Saturday was Brandon's first time pulling his new truck. He has been working on it the past few months & finally just got everything done & ready Friday night. On Saturday morning he got it loaded and washed and by 5:00 we were on our way. When we got there, he actually told me he was nervous. I've never seen him this nervous before! His class wasn't up yet so we walked up to the track, caught up with some of our friends and watched the tractors pull. Finally around 8:00 it was his turn to pull. He was #1 puller which made him even more nervous I think. While he got ready, I went across the track and sat with my family....a little nervous for him too. The class started, the announcer called his name & he pulled up to the sled. The lights turned green & here he come......he ended up just a little under 200 ft. Not bad. He turned that down and decided to come back last. When it was his turn again...here come...just a little over 200 ft that time. After he we was done I went over to talk to him....of course he was flocked by a ton of the guys already. He said he was a little dissapointed and the transmission was slipping. We both agreed it wouldn't be a good idea to pull the next class so he loaded the truck up and we went and watched the rest of the pull. Overall I was very proud of him for doing it. He didn't win or even get close to winning but the rest of the guys that pulled against him have a whole lot more money in their trucks then we do ours. So...the night I feel was a success...he got down the track and didn't break anything!
