Lily Jo

It's been a while since I've updated so I figured I'd better get on here and tell that we finally had our baby girl! I went in for my 39 week doc appt on a Monday and he told me to come in at 6:00 the next morning to be induced. I got hooked up to the monitors and Pitocin started around 7:00, my water was broke at 8:30, received an epidural at 11:00 and after pushing around 45 min, had Lily at 4:13pm. She weighed 7 lbs 13 oz and was 20 1/2" long.

Finally read another book!

Now that I'm on bedrest I have a lot of time on my hands. My cousin had given me a book to read and I finally got around to reading it Friday. Yes I read a whole book in one day except for the last 5 pages which I read the next morning. It's called "Between Sundays" by Karen Kingsbury. The book is about a boy who's mother dies and he ends up living with her best friend. His mother had told him his father was a famous quarterback for the 49ers so he sets out to find him and let him know he's his son. The book is also about the 2nd string quarterback who is very into his faith and is a witness to the 1st string quarterback (the boy's father.) After reading this book I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good read. I'm hoping to be able to read more of Karen Kingsbury's books.

Finally got something new!!

After having my car for 6 years I finally got something different. It has a lot more room than my car and I love sitting up higher. It'll also be alot easier putting the baby in and also toting around the stroller, etc. I love it!!

Our New Bed

We finally got a king sized bed!! We've been wanting one for a long time and spotted one at an auction last Monday. I really thought we'd have no chance at getting it or it would go ridiculously high so I didn't have my hopes up. After at least an hour of standing around watching other stuff selling it was finally time to sell the bed. Oh and did I mention this was a whole bedroom set....entire bed (headboard, frame, box springs, & pillowtop mattress), dresser w/ mirror and two night stands. The bidding started and if I remember right someone else started it out and it went up to $70. Brandon looked at me and asked if I wanted it so I said yes so he bid $80. After that no one else bid....WE WON!! I was in shock!! We just got this entire bedroom set for $80...are you kidding me!!! I was so excited to finally have our big bed and for getting it so extremely cheap.

Dresser and Mirror (so much bigger than our other dresser)

And the bed! This thing is big, so big our dogs can't even jump up on it anymore. It doesn't look that high but I really have to crawl into it. It's nice for both of us to have our own nightstand now. I have to get some new bedding now too. :)

P.S. I didn't mention that I can now cross off #64 on my 101 list!!

Snickers Pie

Last night we ate supper at Brandon's aunt & uncle's and I wanted to take a dessert. I came across this recipe over on Heather Drive and thought it would be great to take. Plus it didn't take long to prepare so I could do it quick when I got home from work. It's called Snickers Pie and even though it doesn't have any snickers in it, it tastes almost like one.....oh and did I mention it's DELICIOUS!!! Seriously you have to try it, even just once to see how yummy it is.

Snickers Pie
(Source: Heather Drive)

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups vanilla frozen yogurt, softened

1 cup fat-free whipped topping (like Cool Whip)
1 small box fat-free, sugar-free instant chocolate pudding mix
1/4 cup reduced fat peanut butter (chunky)
3 oz. Grape Nuts cereal
Hershey's Lite Chocolate Syrup, for drizzling
(I actually didn't use much fat free stuff so mine wasn't as healthy as hers.)

Directions:
1. Microwave peanut butter for 20-30 seconds to soften it enough to stir easily.

2. Combine all ingredients (except chocolate syrup), and mix together well. Pour into 8" dish. Freeze for 20-30 minutes.
3. Drizzle with chocolate syrup. Jazz it up with a few extra dollops of whipped topping, and sprinkle with mini chocolate chips, sprinkles, etc.
4. Freeze until ready to serve. Remove from freezer 5-10 minutes before serving

The mix before putting into the pan.

Going into the freezer

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

This Sunday Brandon's best friend is getting married. Of course I've become friends with his fiance so Saturday she asked me to go out with her and some girls for a "not so wild" bachelorette party. We started the evening by driving to Terre Haute and eating at "Ichiban." It's a Japanse steakhouse which I had never been to. Hope and a couple of the girls had been there and loved it so they had to tell me what to get.  One really cool thing about this restaurant is they fix everything right in front of you.

I ended up ordering Chicken Yakisoba. It's basically just chicken teriyaki with Lo Mein noodles. You also get a salad and small soup before the main course. I was a little leary about how japanse food would taste but let me tell you, this food was AMAZING! Better than alot of American food I've tasted. I've done told Brandon we have to go there so he can try it. They also serve sushi and different seafoods but I figured I would play it safe and go with the chicken. The cook let us try some shrimp and it was awesome so I think that's what I'll get next time.

After we got done eating we decided to go to a local attraction called "Bogey's Family Fun Center." They have different activities including Go Carts, Mini Golf, Trampoline, Batting Cage, Tilt-a-Whirl, Climbing wall, Playland, Video Arcade and lots more! They were closing in an hour so we decided to squeeze in some mini golf. It took us over an hour to finish the 18 holes but I forgot how much I enjoyed mini golf!

After we left we all thought ice cream sounded good so we started the hunt for somewhere that was open. First stop was Baskin Robbins, nope closed....next was Wendy's, closed. We then thought of Dairy Queen so we hurried over and made it right in time before the manager locked the door. She didn't look very happy to see 9 girls coming in wanting ice cream, mostly all blizzards. :)  We all got our orders and headed for home. I had so much fun and it made me want to have girls nights so much more often.

P.S. Brandon took his best friend out to eat that night also so it was nice for him to be occupied and not at home by himself while I was out.

Meet me at the Drive In

Friday night I told Brandon I wanted to have "date night." We decided we would go to a new restaurant in a nearby town that we had heard good reviews on...Puerto Vallarta. If you can't tell by the name, it's Mexican. Then, I told him I wanted to go to the drive in just up the road.

We started the night at the restaurant. I ordered a chicken burrito w/ cheese and a side of rice, Brandon ordered a steak fajita taco salad (like always). Everything was so good and it reminded me a lot like El Rancherito. We will definitely be going back!!

After we ate we had to time to spare before the movie started. The state park where we got married is just a couple miles from the drive in (and actually on the way) so we took a drive thru the park and checked out the spot we were married. Oh how I love being reminded of that day! We spent about 15-20 min in the park (yes it's that big). I could really get lost driving thru there.

It was then time to head to the drive in. We arrived about 20 min. before the movie was to start so we had our pick of where to park. We always take the truck and since it's pretty big, we get a spot in the back. After a while of listening to the radio and watching other people there, it finally got dark and the movie was starting.

The first movie was "Date Night" with Steve Carrell and Tina Fey. This actually wasn't as funny as I thought it would be but had a cute message. I'd watch it again but wouldn't go out and buy it tomorrow. The movie got over around 10:00 and after a 15 min. intermission and us getting a hot dog and the nastiest pretzel I've ever tasted the second movie was starting. This one was "Bounty Hunter." We had been wanting to see this for a while and I have to say we were a little disappointed. It wasn't as good as we thought it would be. Not one I'd want to buy either.

The movie finally got over around midnight so it was time to head home by then, plus I was getting pretty tired at that point. Our date night was over but I had such a good time with my husband and can't wait to do it again. I love nights when it's just us!

Brothers

Yesterday while at Wal-Mart Brandon decided to buy the movie "Brothers." We watched it last night and I can't say it's one of my favorites. It was good but I was really disappointed in how it ended. There was no conclusion in my opinion, it just stopped suddenly. Maybe there will be a "2" come out but for now I'd only give this about a 3.75 out of 5. :)

Twilight

I have been hearing everyone talk about the new Twilight books & movies yet have never had any interest to read it or watch it. I was at my aunt's house Saturday night and she suggested we watch the 1st one. She really likes it so she thought I would to....I'm always up for a good chick flick so I didn't mind checking it out. It was definitely not what I expected....I really liked it! Now I don't think I'll be going and buying it or checking out the books but if she buys the 2nd one I'll definitely watch it too. I now know what everyone's big interest is about. :)

The Undomestic Goddess

I had received this book with a few other "Sophia Kinsella" books a while ago. It's been a while since I've read something I decided to start on this one. I think I read it within a week, it was definitely one I couldn't put down.

The book starts out with a girl working at a high end law firm. A problem arises and she finds herself out of a job and when she goes out of town, ends up being mistaken for a housekeeper. Most of the rest of the book is about how she finds out what she really wants in life and what is most important to her. Defnitely a good book I would recommend reading if you're into the "chicklit" books.

Sisterchicks

I finally finished a book this month.....actually it only took me a week to read. I was in our local outlet store when I spotted this "Sisterchicks" book. It was only $1 and looked like a good read so I went ahead and bought it. It's called "Sisterchicks do the Hula."  It's about 2 best friends that go to Hawaii for their birthdays and end up on various adventures and reflecting on their lives. It's definitely a chicklit book but I've come to learn that those are my favorite. This is only one of a series of Sisterchick books  and I hope to find and read them all. If you are into chicklit books definitely read this!

New movies

We hadn't rented any new movies in a long time so we decided to get 2 last night....2012 and Time Traveler's Wife. We watched 2012 first and it was pretty good. I think Brandon liked it more than I did. Then we watched Time Traveler's Wife. I thought it was going to be hard to understand but it actually wasn't once I started getting into it. I really liked this movie and of course cried at the end. I'm such a sap! Even though 2012 wouldn't be my favorite movie, I would still recommend both of these to anyone thinking about watching them.

Movie night

Sunday night was Brandon's turn to pick out the movies we watched. He got "17 Again" and "Observe and Report". I really liked the first one. It's a nice family movie and has a good message. I may end up buying it. The other one was a different story. It was basically the same thing as "Mall Cop." I definitely don't need to watch it again.

Double Time

Last night for movie night I picked out 2 movies I wanted to watch...The Proposal & The Ugly Truth. I had been wanting to see these and since they were both available I snatched them up! They both were really good and I'll definitely be going out and buying them....if I don't get them for Christmas. ;) I highly recommend checking them out if you haven't already!!

Ghosts of Girlfriends Past

Sunday Brandon picked out this movie for us to watch. We both liked it and I laughed quite a bit at the "past girlfriend." She was just hilarious to watch.

My great accomplishment

I started #86 on my list a couple weeks ago...a 1000 pc. puzzle. I had decided I wasn't going to spend a lot of money on one so I went to Catholic Charities and picked one up for 50 cents, can't beat that. I'd been working on it in the evenings and some on the weekends and finally finished it last night...I was so proud of myself when I put the final piece in!! Here's the finished product. (Note: there are a couple pieces missing b/c I had dropped them on the floor & before I found them the dogs had already started eating them so they weren't in any condition to be put in it)
TA-DA! (the pic needs flipped, sorry)

Fool's Gold

We chose to watch "Fool's Gold" last night for our new movie. I thought it was a pretty good movie but I think I need to watch it again tonight because last night I was doing a puzzle while trying to watch so I didn't exactly get to see everything. ;)

Post Wedding Chop

I finally went and had my hair cut off last Thursday night!! I highlighted it pretty heavy too so it looks blonde now. Here's my cousin and I at a wedding Saturday night.

Obsessed

We watched our second movie we rented Sunday night, "Obsessed." This one was way better than the first one we watched. It is a drama about a girl who becomes obsessed over a man she works with and ends up causing a lot of problems with him and his family. I could definitely watch it again!

Sunday Night Movie

We are started a tradition of watching a new movie every Sunday night. Last night I told DH he could choose what we watched...he came home with "Knowing" and "Obsessed." We ended up only watching "Knowing" and let me tell ya, I really don't need to watch it again. I'm just not into the freaky, kinda weird movies. I was waiting for something bad to happen every time the "white faced" guys would come. The ending was definitely not what I expected. I guess we might watch "Obsessed" tonight.
